LIVING WELL

Care and Well being

We offer a range of courses and classes for the development of health and happiness.

Our general classes (Find out more) provide a full introduction to two fundamental Buddhist meditation practices: the Mindfulness of Breathing, which enhances our awareness and peace of mind and the Metta Bhavana "the development of loving kindness" which brings about a gentle but radical transformation in our emotional experience.

We also offer specialist courses in dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and courses focussing on specific aspects of mindfulness.

MINDFULNESS BASED COURSES
for care and well being

The Mindfulness Based Approach

In the 1980’s scientists from the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre in the United States, turned their attention to methods of the East, particularly mindfulness meditation to treat patients suffering from acute stress, pain and depression. They found that this type of meditation [often combined with a psychological approach] is an effective tool to help people explore their condition and become more aware of themselves and the way they think and behave and the choices they can make to have a chance to improve the quality of their lives. Ever since, this approach has gained reputation and is now widely used around the world.

Our courses are led by qualified and experienced instructors. All our teachers are also long standing meditation practitioners.

DAY EVENTS

Yoga Therapy for Mental Health
Tools for managing depression and stress
with Amanda Owen and Heather Mason
Sat 6 Sept 10am – 4pm £tbc
Stress and depression affect the mind and the body so to restore well-being it is important to work with the whole person. Yoga harnesses mental and physical energy in a positive way. This integrative approach to mental health combines yoga postures (asanas), breath work (pranayama) and mindful awareness.
Open to beginners and experienced practitioners. You do NOT have to be fit or flexible to join in. We will modify and personalise the yoga according to the needs of each individual. Come along and have fun learning new tools for your life.

Yin yoga and Meditation
With Amalavajra and Norman Blair
Sunday
 21 Sept 10am – 5pm. £40/30
Inspired by gentleness, precision and letting go, sitting postures are held for sustained periods of time. This allows us space to explore potential and refine awareness.
Buddhist meditation is a natural extension of yoga asana practice. Having become more present to your physical experience, it is natural that your awareness of mind should deepen and clarify. You will learn meditation practices which cultivate a still collected mind and a warmer, more open heart.

ADVANCE BOOKING IS REQUIRED FOR ALL THESE COURSES AND EVENTS.
