Meeting the Buddhas in the VImalakirti Nirdesa Sutra - Monday 23 July

The Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra is perfumed by the Buddhadhisthana (literally support of the Buddha) or more poetically Grace or Blessings. We meet hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas. These beings "shower forth the rain of ambrosia that is released by the light rays of the jewel of the Dharma, which shines everywhere."

Shakyamuni reveals our world as having the potential to be viewed as a jewelled Buddha field. Many Buddhas appear including Akshobya and Amitabha and the sutra culminates in a vision of the Buddha Akshobya.

Visuddhimati will explore some of the miracles and magic in the sutra and explore the hypothesis that this is intended to shake up our preconceptions to help us become receptive to Vimalakirti's message of inconceivability.

Celebrate Mabon - the Autumn Equinox

The autumnal equinox occurs when the sun crosses the equator on its apparent journey southward, and we experience a day and a night that are of equal duration.
So for the moment nature is in balance. It is a time to reap what you have sown in the spring, of giving thanks for the harvest and the bounty the Earth provides
It is a time for finishing up old projects and plans. Mabon as it was known is a time of celebration and balance.

We'll meditate and reflect on the time and do a puja.
Bring acorns (and other autumnal fruits) and dried (clean!) leaves as offerings.
