Iyengar Yoga

Hatha Yoga

A deep and careful yoga designed to extend the spine and strengthen the body. There is a specific focus on long-term spinal health and undo-ing the damage caused by sitting for hours a time.
Movements are slow and precise; influenced by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, John Stirk, Anna Ashby and Catherine Annis. The class is un-hurried and not predicated on gymnastic ability.

The Thursday class is particularly relaxed and may include one or two long restorative postures and some meditation.

Circular Flow Yoga/ Vinyasa Flow

Gentle Vinyasa Flow Yoga

An inspiring and softly flowing yoga that mindfully integrates hatha postures with the breath. The class focuses on lengthening, strengthening and stretching to relax the body and balance the mind. Drawing on the precision of Iyengar, energy of Asthanga and the creativity of Shiva Rea's Prana Flow, each session will combine elements of these yogic practices to develop strength, flexibility and stamina. Designed for all levels of experience, we'll finish with a luxurious period of shavasana (corpse pose) to form a deeply restful conclusion to the day.

8-Step Recovery Group

A meeting for anyone in recovery from addiction, habitual behaviours and obsessive tendencies.

    Fun And Flow Vinyasa

    Looking for a creative, playful yoga class to get energized? This is an upbeat, smooth flowing practice that includes plenty of stretching and some strengthening and balance poses. Whilst the class is geared towards a moderate level, there are alignment cues and modifications, so you're welcome to make the class as gentle or challenging as you like. We end the class in a luxurious savasana and sometimes a guided meditation to keep the good vibes going. Suitable for all levels including complete beginners.

    Saturday Morning Meditation and Buddhism Drop-in class

    We start with meditation at 10:15. After the tea break, you can continue to explore meditation, or alternatively you can join the Buddhism option. Our theme for the New Year is the five spiritual faculties: mindfulness, confidence, energy, unification of mind, and insight. The second Saturday of each month there is a talk on one of these themes (click here), and on the other Saturdays we get together to discuss the practical implications of these fundamental Buddhist teachings.     13 April: Karunagita is back from 3 months on retreat and will communicate something of her experience

    11 May: Dhammamegha met Triratna in South Africa and has spent 3 years in the UK, at Adhisthana and Tiratanaloka. She is moving to London in April 2019. This is a chance to hear her story and for her to meet some of us

    8 June: We are welcoming back Danasamudra, who came from Adhisthana last year, and Dharmaprabha, who worked at the NLBC until recently. Dansamudra will give a talk called “Women, Inspiration and the Dharma Life”, followed by discussion, tea and led reflection with Dharmaprabha.

    13 July: Dhammagita returns for another wonderful afternoon with the body

    I'll Meet You There - exploring empathy and communication with Shantigarbha

    Shantigarbha will introduce his book I'll Meet You There: a practical guide to empathy, mindfulness and communication and show how we connect with each other in the space that opens up when we let go of our ideas of good and bad, right and wrong. To empathise with others, we need to learn how to empathise with ourselves, so that when we reach out, we do so from the inside out.

    The evening will include a guided reflection from the book, stories embodying empathy from the life of the Buddha and practical exercises to help develop listening skills.

    Shantigarbha is a certified Nonviolent Communication trainer.

    Triratna International Gathering 2019: Alchemy of the Dharma

    The International Gathering is the main event in the Triratna calendar that brings together Triratna on all levels of experience. It is a celebration of our community, of who we are and what we do. This biennial event brings together large numbers of the Triratna Buddhist Community from around Europe for a feast of inspiration, stimulation and fun.
