Nourishing the Yin: Harmonising the Five Orbs (May 2019)

The ancient Daoists studied and understood nature through the prism of five: five directions, five phases, five flavours, five tones, and in the body the five yin organs. Western physiology, too, considers these of utmost importance to us as functioning life forms: the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and spleen. In Chinese medicine these organs not only have a physical aspect but also a set of correspondent emotions. Qigong gives us a way to influence this cycle in a positive way to help maintain and restore balance and health.

We will also explore the use of "healing sounds" as another method for supporting the health of the organs. As with chanting or mantra, this type of practice is predicated on the idea that sound and vibration form the basis of the universe, and that by creating certain frequencies with the voice we can resonate and heal our internal organs.

This workshop will be gently paced and is open to all. The form is easy to learn and very effective in its ability to restore balance to the body.
Tea will be provided.
