ONLINE CLASS Qi Gong with Richard - Mon 1st June

The focus in this class is on sequences of postures and movements. These include more general forms such as the popular Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi, but also sequences relating to the development and health of particular aspects and parts of the body. It is not necessary to memorise the movements.

Through the regulation of body, breath and mind, Qigong practice promotes harmony of the The Three Treasures (essence, vitality and spirit) and so cultivates a deep sense of calm connectedness.

You can join Richard for this class via the Zoom app, which you can use on your computer/laptop or tablet. You will be sent the link once you have booked.

ONLINE: Sangha Night - Buddhist Action Month "for the Earth"

The Sangha is the Buddhist term for the community of people wishing to learn from the Buddha's teachings. Order Members take turns to lead these evenings, practising and communicating Buddhism. A Sangha evening might include a talk, meditation, discussion, workshop, devotional practice, and tea. Open to all (though it is helpful if you have had an introduction to the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditation practices).

On 1, 8 and 15 June, Sangha night will focus on the theme for Buddhist Action Month, which this year is “….. for the Earth”.

We will explore what we want to do or say ‘for the Earth’, with short talks, discussion and ritual and with reference to the Braham Viharas – specifically Metta (love), Karuna (compassion) and Mudita (joy).

These weeks will be led by Karunagita with support from Katja and the Sangha night team.

ONLINE: Mindfulness for Stress session

This session is a chance to plunge in and experience how mindfulness practice can help with stress. It is an ideal introductory session for newcomers, and is also suitable for experienced mindfulness practitioners and meditators. The session leader, Niccy Lowit, is a practising Buddhist and an accredited Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher.

Niccy says:- "Happiness is a skill. This is what the ancient practice of mindfulness teaches, and what modern psychology research has shown. The wonderful thing is that this skill, just like driving or dancing, can be learned, and it can stay with you for a lifetime. This online taster session will introduce you to the skills of mindfulness. Practising mindfulness has been shown to boost happiness and well-being, and to help people find new sources of resilience, joy, and calm in their lives, and to better cope with stress and anxiety."

Niccy has kindly offered this session in the spirit of generosity in that she has given her time for free so that any donations will go towards the upkeep of our Buddhist Centre. Please consider joining with that spirit of generosity and donating to help our Centre stay afloat during these difficult times.
