METAL - an elemental Qigong workshop (27 Oct 19)

In the Five Elements system Metal is the contracting, or condensing, phase of the Five Elements cycle and is associated with the season of Autumn and the direction West. In the body it is manifested as the Lungs and Large Intestine organs and it aids our sense of clarity.

The day will be gently paced, with loosening exercises, standing meditations and Qigong walking, as well as Tiger forms that relate to Metal.

It will be perfectly suitable for the beginner.

Samhain Celebration and Ritual

Samhain is a major festival with several aspects. It signifies the end of the harvest period, it is new year's eve for witches, it inaugurates Winter, is the final chance to dry herbs for winter storage, It is a time when the veils between the worlds are at there most permeable and it’s a night when fairies are supposedly afoot working mischief. It is also the Day of the Dead for us as it was for the Celts, Egyptians and ancient Mexicans, a time for connecting with our ancestors.

In the liminal space of Samhain it’s a good time for personal reflection, for recognising our faults and flaws and creating a method for rectifying them. We’ll meditate, reflect and do ritual with Kshitigarbha as the focus.

Yoga, Autumn and Ayurveda

Join Sian for a morning's exploration of how the ancient wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda can help you transition smoothly into autumn.

November is poised between autumn and winter. According to Ayurveda, this season can lead to aggravated vata dosha which if not managed can lead us to feel ungrounded, agitated or restless.

Luckily, Yoga and Ayurveda offer tools to help rebalance. This session will offer a grounding, balanced practice of yoga, breathwork and contemplation to help you stabilise and find your roots.

Accessible to all and with variations and modifications where appropriate, you'll finish with a long and luxurious relaxation for you to emerge revitalised and reset for the new season.

WATER - an elemental Qigong workshop (1 Dec 19)

Water is our deep potential to develop and change. It is essential to life, and in a very real sense we are water. When the Water Element is healthy it can affect the whole balance of yin and yang forces in the body and bring about deep vitality. Water is fluidity and flow, and these aspects, as well as its connection with the Kidney and Bladder organs and meridians, will be explored in both moving and static forms.

These forms will include some inspired by the Bear, the animal associated with Water in the Five Elements system.

The day will be gently paced and will be perfectly suitable for the beginner.
