December’s Keynote Talk: ‘Warriors of Peace’
We are delighted to be joined today by our special guest speaker, Ratnadeva. This is the fourth morning of the NLBC series on the Four Seals of the Dharma. In this session we will explore the Fourth Seal, sometimes rendered as ‘Nirvana alone is peace’. The first three weeks have dealt with the indelible marks of existence: impermanence, unsatisfactoriness and insubstantiality - not always easy pills for us to swallow. In line with the profoundly optimistic turn of the Dharma, the Fourth Seal is a statement of our potential for awakening and liberation from the suffering that afflicts us this side of enlightenment when we can’t swallow the pill. What does the Fourth Seal mean by peace? In order to explore the meaning of peace we will turn to the Pali canon and look at the fundamental source of conflict as described by the Buddha. We will see that the line between peace and conflict cuts through the heart and mind of every human being. Crucially, we will look at what can we do to cultivate peace in our lives and in the world.
Alternatively you can watch the talk live or recorded on our YouTube Channel (search for North London Buddhist Centre). Zoom link for the online class is here
