February’s Keynote Talk: Generosity as a route to Insight by Karunagita.

We can describe the path towards enlightenment as the perfection of wisdom and compassion. Perfect giving, the first perfection, is often associated with positive emotion. In this talk, Karunagita will examine generosity through the lens of wisdom instead. She will point to ways it can help us develop insight -- into ourselves, into being human, the nature of existence and what it means to go beyond ourselves.

Our series is: Crossing the flood: the six perfections, on the stages of the sublime bodhisattva path.

The bodhisattva represents "one of the sublimest spiritual ideals that mankind has ever seen", an ideal Buddhist working tirelessly for the benefit of all. But in ordinary life, how does one balance one's own spiritual needs with one's need to respond to the needs of others? These talks will cover the six bodhisattva perfections, a path that reveals and crafts giving, ethics, forbearance, energy, meditation and wisdom.
