ONLINE: Sangha Night - “Cherish the Doctrine”

The Sangha is the Buddhist term for the community of people wishing to learn from the Buddha's teachings. Lalitaraja, Santva, Manjumitra, Khemananda and guest Order Members take turns to lead these evenings, practising and communicating Buddhism. A Sangha evening might include a talk, meditation, discussion, workshop, devotional practice. Open to all (though it is helpful if you have had an introduction to the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditation practices).

We have a real treat on 24th August as our much-loved former Chair, Visuddhimati, will speak about the slogan 'Cherish the Doctrine’. This was the Buddhist master Dhardo Rimpoche's slogan for his school. She will be reflecting on what this slogan means for her, how we long for someone or something to hold dear and how this can be developed into a path to insight.

We’ll hear the inspiring story of the famous Buddhist figure Padmasambhava and a Tibetan Queen who asked the guru for a teaching to cherish within her heart - a teaching we too can cherish and learn from today. And there will be suggestions for how we can take this on as a personal practice.
