Parinirvana Day Festival

Parinivana Day Festival | 18 Feb 1pm - 6.30pm
Suitable for Newcomers / Intermediates / Regulars.

Starting with a veggie lunch to share at 1pm.
This key buddhist festival marks the final passing of the Buddha two and a half millennia ago. Death is a mystery to us all with the death of an Enlightened one being even more mysterious.  Parinivana day gives us an opportunity not just to reflect on the great mystery of death but also to rejoice in the example of the Buddha’s life and in the precious opportunity our own lives present us with.

The Buddha advised his followers that if they were to thrive they should ‘meet together regularly and in large numbers.’ Festivals are central to the life of the Buddhist community, providing us with a regular opportunity to gather as a community for a celebration of the Buddha and his teachings. Bring a vegetarian lunch to share at 1pm followed by an afternoon of meditation, discussion, talks and workshops culminating in a ritual in the early evening.

(Please, note there is an event for all mitras and order members in the morning that you might have been invited to separately)

1pm Shared lunch

2pm Meditation led by Santva

3pm Tea break

3.30pm Talk 'Death and the Buddha' from Kulamitra followed by discussion
