Great Buddhists
This autumn a series of talks on some of the amazing people who have exemplified Buddhist practice, communicated the teachings of Buddhism, and helped make Buddhism more accessible. These are our speakers:
14-Sep Kusalasara, Shantideva – the laziest monk makes good.
All the joy the world contains has come through wishing happiness for others. All the misery the world contains has come through wanting pleasure only for oneself.” (Shantideva)
Shantideva shattered his reputation for extreme laziness at Nalanda University around the year 700 by reciting his amazing book-length philosophical poem, 'the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life'. Kusalasara is a fan of Shantideva, and will introduce his work and significance as one of the great Indian Buddhist bodhisattvas. Kusalasara is the women's Mitra convenor at the London Buddhist centre, and we are really lucky getting her to give our September talk. Look out for it on YouTube if you can't make it live.
12-Oct Ambedkar Day: celebrating the great Indian Buddhist reformer and statesman of the 20th century, Dr BR Ambedkar
9-Nov Sraddhagita On Dhardo Rimpoche, a modern Tibetan bodhisattva
14-Dec Karunagita, topic to be announced
