***JUNE 12th IS THE SIXTH MONTHLY KEYNOTE TALK OF 2021***

“How to be aware and why: what have the Buddha’s teachings on mindfulness got to offer” with Lalitaraja
What can the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness tell us about how to be aware and why? The Buddha’s 5th Precept advises us that to purify our minds we should work to develop mindfulness. He also advises this is easier if we abstain from intoxicants. Sobriety is definitely helpful in developing mindfulness and making progress on our path. And mindfulness can definitely play a key role in achieving sobriety. But is sobriety the opposite of intoxication? Today we'll explore the question of what it means to be intoxicated, why that is a problem and how can we apply the Buddha's teaching on mindfulness in our lives.

This talk continues our theme for 2021 - The Triple Training or 3-Fold Path: new life (ethics), new mind (meditation) and new insight (wisdom). Recordings of past talks can be found on our North London Buddhist Centre YouTube channel here.
