***ONLINE SPECIAL EVENT***
Sat 15 May 14:00-16:30
Open to all
Free event (donations very welcome!)
You are warmly invited to this special gathering ‘Embracing Liberation: the Launch of our Racial Diversity and Inclusion Initiative’ facilitated by the NLBC Racial Diversity and Inclusion Kula
“We are the NLBC Racial Diversity and Inclusion (RDI) Kula - a multiracial multicultural group who have become deeply inspired by the teachings of the Buddha through years of being part of the community of the North London Buddhist Centre - the NLBC sangha. In summer 2020, the RDI Kula started having courageous conversations about race and belonging and decided to create more opportunities for anyone of any racial identity (or none) to feel welcomed and included at the NLBC. Whether you are new to the NLBC or have been coming here for years, you are invited to this special gathering. Come, discover and celebrate friendships - new and old. We will be co-creating a vision for building a more diverse, inclusive sangha and sharing findings from our initial survey. This is the first part of a series of events over the next year to develop the vision and plan of action. We are also hosting two Sangha Nights on Mondays 17 & 24 May - further details to come!”
From the RDI Kula: Bernadette Carelse, Bodhamayi, Chandrasurya, Chris Porter, Katja Behrendt, Khemajala, Rachel Goodman, Shakyasiddhi and Singhashri
In the spirit of inclusivity this event is free. However if you are in a position to give us a donation towards the survival of the Centre, and would like to so that we can continue to offer events to as many people as possible in these difficult times, that would be very much appreciated. You can donate here. Please use reference ‘RDI’. Many many thanks.
