ONLINE: Monthly Women's Class (gender diverse friendly) - December: Death of Superwoman?

This is a monthly event exploring different aspects of the Buddha's teachings and meditation. Usually there is a talk or workshop, often by a guest speaker, and some meditation. Open to all women (gender diverse friendly). It helps if you are familar with our meditation practices the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana, but please be assured that is not essential.

12 Dec: “Death of Superwoman?” with Karunagita
Karunagita is used to leading a life of energy, strength and competence. In May she became ill with Covid. This became ‘long Covid’ and since then it has been months of slow recovery for her – mostly off work, unable to teach and becoming a grateful recipient of support and kindness more than the giver that she is used to being. She will facilitate today’s session which she has called ‘Death of Superwoman’, or, as she says, “More accurately it is the spiritual death – or at least another big blow to – the illusion of being a superwoman”. This process has included embracing restfulness and, more recently, Tonglen practice and deepening awareness and connection with people facing limitations. As such it fits well with our autumn theme of ‘Solidarity with Self and World’. As always, the class will include a short period of led reflection or meditation and chance to explore our own responses to the theme and how that relates to our lives and experience of 2020.

This event is offered in the spirit of generosity in that our teachers give their time for free. Please consider joining with that spirit and donating to help us keep our Centre afloat through these difficult times. Suggested donation £10. Please donate here
