Join Aryajit and friends on our Working Retreat at Alfoxton House this summer. Alfoxton is a Buddhist, land-based retreat centre based in a magical location in Somerset, Southwest England.
It’s an historic building connected to the birth of Romantic poetry as the home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. It had been neglected for many years, leaving the house in serious need of restoration. It's a magical place set within 52 acres of ancient woodland with herds of red deer grazing the hillside.
A team of Buddhists from our community have been working to restore the house and tend to the land. They’ve been running retreats and events and welcoming hundreds of volunteers and visitors over the last few years. The project is run by Jayaraja, our guest at the last men's event, where he spoke about the Alfoxton project, and much else. You can watch the interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watchv=SoCeokrewNQ
The retreat will be a chance to contribute to the vision of this retreat centre, whilst also making connections, spending time in beautiful countryside, meditating and learning about the Dharma.
There is plenty to do at Alfoxton- from unskilled to skilled work, for all levels of physical capacity. Payment for the retreat is by donation – so you can give as little or as much as you like.
Please email Anandavajra (anandavajra.nlbc@gmail.com) to express an interest in coming, as places are limited to 12 so we would advise booking a place soon. There are a few places available for those who can only make a few days.
