***MAY 8th IS THE FIFTH MONTHLY KEYNOTE TALK OF 2021***

“How to be authentic: the precept of truthful speech” with Khemajala
We are delighted to welcome Khemajala as our guest speaker this month, helping us explore the challenge of authenticity. How does the Buddha’s 4th precept - the precept of truthful speech - fit in to this endeavour in our complex modern post-truth world? Khemajala says:- “There is more to honesty than telling the truth. Ethics are a practice of love. How might a goddess of love, Aphrodite, help us understand the tricky work of being truthful and loving? The heart never lies (or does it?) Expect mistakes, mess, confessions, apologies, and amends – and with a bit of luck something to laugh about too.”

This talk continues our theme for 2021 - The Triple Training or 3-Fold Path: new life (ethics), new mind (meditation) and new insight (wisdom). Recordings of past talks can be found on our North London Buddhist Centre YouTube channel here.
