IN-PERSON: Sangha Night | DHARMA REVOLUTION EVENING

The Sangha is the Buddhist term for the community of people wishing to learn from the Buddha's teachings. Lalitaraja, Santva, Manjumitra, Akshayapradipa and guest Order Members take turns to lead these evenings, practising and communicating Buddhism. A Sangha evening might include a talk, meditation, discussion, workshop, devotional practice. Open to all (though it is helpful if you have had an introduction to the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditation practices).

Every October we remember the first mass conversion to Buddhism of Indian Dalits under the leadership of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in 1956. By becoming Buddhists they were able to begin to escape the oppression and cruelty of the caste system.

Today the Triratna Buddhist Community in India numbers many thousands and conducts educational and social work projects amongst some of India’s poorest communities at the same time as teaching the Dharma.

This special event will be a unique opportunity to experience some of the life and flavour of our movement in India as well as learning more about this hugely important story in modern Buddhism.

Sanghanath, Nisha, Kusala and Serena will be hosting the evening and look forward to greeting you there. There will be Indian snacks, music performances and footage of the movement in India.

The Sangha Night team is looking forward to welcoming you.
