The Sangha is the Buddhist term for the community of people wishing to learn from the Buddha's teachings. A Sangha evening might include a talk, meditation, discussion, workshop, devotional practice. Open to all (though it is helpful if you have had an introduction to the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditation practices).

Monday 16th August: Buddhist Talking About Racism (Part 3) - ‘Scenes from a Buddhist Friendship'

This evening Santva will introduce the life and work of Vijayatara, including film, audio recording and personal memories. Vijayatara was an accomplished academic, completing her PhD in 'Buddhism across Cultures' during the last years of her life. In her academic work Vijayatara expressed her life experience as a black, lesbian Buddhist. Through her friendships, Vijayatara expressed her love. Santva and Vijayatara met in the early nineties and were good friends until Vijayatara's premature death, aged 49, in 2011. They were in a Mitra study group together and, after joining the Triratna Buddhist Order, they were in the same Chapter. With the Sangha Night Team.
